Film festival submission platform FestSubmit connects entry preparation with submission records
Finding a festival is only one part of getting a finished film before a selection team. Eligibility, material access and payment status also need attention. Film festival submission platform FestSubmit offers filmmakers a route from checking an open category to keeping a record of the entry, making it a practical option to explore when organising festival submissions.
Start with the category, then prepare the materials
An entry should follow the requirements of its chosen category. Directors, producers, screenwriters, performers and authorised representatives can use a submitter account. The submitter’s role and the award entered are separate fields; the person handling the application need not be the director.
Film categories require a screener link, while script and performance categories use the corresponding readable or viewable material. These are links rather than direct file uploads. Teams should check access permissions, include any password and keep the material available to reviewers.
Follow the entry into review
Free entries proceed to review after submission. Paid entries reach the organiser’s review list after payment confirmation. My Submissions provides the recorded history and statuses, giving the applicant a place to check progress rather than relying solely on a payment receipt.
A directory listing is not necessarily an active entry route. FestSubmit’s guide distinguishes reference or sample listings that display dates from categories accepting submissions through the platform. Free festival listing likewise does not mean that every entry is free.
For a filmmaker planning submissions, the platform is worth examining as an organisational tool. Its usefulness begins with a well-matched category and accessible materials; a longer list of applications is no substitute for choosing festivals that fit the work.
