Red line specifications for the installation of ground wire safety and leakage protection (RCD) systems for high-end microgrids in outdoor RVs and off-grid wooden houses
When many European outdoor users build DIY off-grid solar energy for wooden houses or high-power energy storage for RVs, they ignore the potential hazards of the floating ground at the output end of the inverter, which can easily lead to electric shocks and fatal fires. The EIP Safety Laboratory provides a hard-core interpretation of the latest European Union electrical safety compliance standards in 2026. Tests have shown that high-quality offshore power supplies and inverters must have built-in automatic neutral-ground bonding relays to automatically establish a safe ground reference when entering off-grid inverter mode. At the same time, we compared in detail the necessity of a Class B leakage protector (Type B RCD) with 100% sensitive capture capability for DC leakage current.
